Prepare for Winter Snow and High Winds

With our first Winter storm on the way this weekend, we wanted to alert you that just a small amount of snow can cause more accidents than a full-blown out snowstorm.

James A Connors Califon Employees Participate in Toys For Tots Program

For the tenth consecutive year, and spearheaded by office co-manager Nancy Hoffman, team members from the Califon office have organized a campaign for the United States Marines Toys for Tots program. Thousands of gifts have been collected over the years. The gifts are collected in the Califon office over the period of a few weeks where they spend a brief time decorating the office before being picked up by the Marines for donation to needy children. The collection is one of the largest in the area. Nancy said “I would like to thank our employees for their generous time and donations as well as thank our many clients and neighbors for again making such a successful program.

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Department of Homeland Security is sponsoring Cyber Security Awareness Month.  All during the month of October, we will post tips on our social media pages to assist you in protecting your businesses.

According to a recent cyber survey over 82% of organizations expect to be attacked.  77% saw an increase in attacks against their companies.

Due to the shortage of skilled cyber security professionals, it is imperative that you educate your employees on how to fight cyber security threats and recognize trends.

Craig Cecere Promoted to Branch Manager

James A. Connors is proud to announce the appointment of Craig Cecere as Branch Manager in our Edison branch. Craig has been with our organization for over four years serving as a valued member of our commercial production team. Craig has many years of experience in the agency system and has served in a variety of capacitys within the independent agency system. With Craig's experience, he was our top candidate to fill the Edison position and was the number one choice by both Jim Connors and Jim Connors, Senior. We congratulate, Craig.

Leaving for vacation

Don't post your trip information on your social media page. Criminals troll the Facebook pages in their area, looking for these types of posts. Your home will be fair game.

Put up your vacation pictures when you get home, until then, keep your travel details to your immediate family or friends.

Workers in Hot Weather

If you are working outside for any length of time, here are a few tips to keep yourself from experiencing heat stroke:

  • Drink water every 15 minutes, even if you are not thirsty. 
  • Rest in the shade to cool down. 
  • Wear a hat and light-colored clothing. 
  • Learn the signs of heat illness and what to do in an emergency. 
  • Keep an eye on fellow workers. 

Fourth of July Hazards

With the fourth of July weekend coming up, be sure to safe around fireworks and sparklers.  Having a barbeque, make sure that all your food is properly stored to protect your guests from illness.  Driving, be aware of those around you.  Be safe and enjoy your weekend.
