Russ Trowbridge Receives 2013 Five Star Insurance Professional Award

Five Star Professional conducts research to help consumers with the important decision of selecting a service professional. The Five Star award is presented to wealth managers, real estate agents, mortgage professionals and home/auto insurance professionals in more than 45 markets in the U.S. and Canada. The Five Star award goes to service professionals who provide quality services to their clients. The Five Star Professional research team applies a vigorous research and evaluation process to identify service professionals who provide quality services to their clients. Professionals do not pay a fee to be considered or placed on the final list of Five Star award winners.

The Five Star Home/Auto Insurance Professional Program is designed to identify home/auto insurance professionals in a given market who satisfy objective criteria that are associated with providing quality services to clients.

Award candidates are identified through nominations received by consumers. To receive the Five Star Home/Auto Insurance Professional award, a home/auto insurance professional must satisfy five objective eligibility and evaluation criteria that are associated with home/auto insurance professionals who provide quality services to their clients. The award process is conducted annually in each market. Homeowners (all area residents who purchased a home over $100,000 - $200,000 within an eight to 36-month period, depending on the market size) are asked to evaluate home/auto insurance professionals with whom they have worked and evaluate them based upon five criteria. Self-nominations are not accepted.

In order to be named a Five Star Home/Auto Insurance Professional, an individual must hold a current insurance license and be in good standing. The final list of Five Star Home/Auto Insurance Professionals includes less than 7% of the home/auto insurance professionals in a market.

In the March issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine, Russ Trowbridge is featured as a 2013 Five Star Insurance Professional for excelling in customer satisfaction. This is the second consecutive Five Star Insurance Professional Award received by Russ.

Thaddeus Jenkins Receives CLCS Designation

Thaddeus Jenkins, the office manager at the Edison Office of James A. Connors, has achieved his CLCS - Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist - designation after completing his five courses.

Toys for Tots Successful 2012 Toy Drive

The Califon Office (The Horton Fine Agency), a division of James A. Connors Associates, has participated since 2006 in the annual Toys for Tots Program. Our 2012 effort of 711 enabled the Toys for Tots division to distribute over 10,000 toys to the area's most affected by Sandy in the state of New Jersey. We want to thank our employees and our community for giving generously so children throughout New Jersey had a wonderful holiday.

James A. Connor's Califon Office rolls out 2012 Toys For Tots Program

The 2012 Toys for Tots Program has officially begun! The Califon Office will once again host the United States Marines Toys for Tots Foundation toy drive. We will be accepting new, unwrapped toys until December 17, 2012. Once the collection drive is complete a representative from the United States Marine Corp will come pick up the toys to distribute to children that are less fortunate. Last year our office alone collected more than 700 toys! Thank you!

Storm Damage at the Shore - What Do You Do?

Claims are being processed as quickly as possible but due to the number and the devastation, adjuster availability is scarce.
At the shore, the situation is worse.  We have spoken to many of you already regarding storm damage at the shore and the claims process.
By now you should have heard from your insurance carrier and an adjuster to confirm that your loss is being worked on.  At the shore, adjusters have limited access and it could take several weeks before an adjuster can view your property.
In the meantime, you need to take whatever action you can to reduce the potential of additional losses.  You need to try to protect your property, if possible.
Here are some things to do:
  • Try to turn off the water
  • Secure the house
  • Remove all moldy items
  • Take lots of pictures
  • Keep your receipts for all emergency repairs, supplies, etc.
  • Do not pay cash for any work - use checks and credit cards
  • Try to keep sample of items thrown out (12" x 12" piece of carpet or fabric)
  • Get estimates for the adjusters
Before doing any, make sure you have these items before entering your home:
  • Rubber gloves
  • Dust masks
  • Duct Tape
  • Hammer
  • Screw driver
  • Pry Bar
  • RV Anti-freeze (for toilets)
  • Drinking Water
  • Camera
  • Flashlight
  • Wear boots and old clothes
  • Bring a change of clothes
  • Paper/Pens to start an inventory list
  • Trash Bags
  • Food
Even though you may have access to your house, the adjusters may not have access or the time to see your home for as much as a month. There are still many people that lost their primary home and are living in their cards or in their homes with no water, no heat, no electricity.  They are the top priorities.
The rebuilding process is not going to start for months.
With the limited time and access you have, please try to get rid of any moldy furniture, cloths, rugs, etc.  Take lots of pictures.  It would be smart, if you could cut and remove wet dry wall, remove insulation, etc.  Remember to take pictures before removing.

James P. Stanek - Joins Firm as Sales Manager

James A. Connors Associates is pleased to announce the addition of James P. Stanek to its team.  Mr. Stanek’s title is Senior Vice President, New Business Development.  Mr. Stanek is an insurance industry veteran with significant experience in many facets of the insurance industry including: operational and general management; sales management; sales; marketing; client services; risk management; and, mergers and acquisitions.  His background includes working with a very diverse client base that has ranged from general business accounts to large public entities including school boards and municipalities.

Jim Connors, president of the agency said “We are so pleased to have James joining our team.  Our agency has grown - and we felt now was the time to bring on someone with James’ talent to help us manage our growth and to continue to grow the agency for the benefit of our clients.”

Prior to joining James A. Connors Associates, Inc., as, Mr. Stanek served as Senior Vice President of Commerce National Insurance Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commerce Bancorp, Inc., where he developed relationships between the insurance division and banking lenders as part of a business-building strategy as well as managing a staff of 20 commercial lines account executives.  Prior to that Mr. Stanek was Chief Operating Officer of Traber and Vreeland - managing a staff of 135 employees in six branches, including account executives, customer service representatives and support staff.

Mr. Stanek began his insurance career with Cornwall Agency, Inc. in 1972 after attending Jersey City State College in Jersey City, New Jersey and Husson University in Bangor, Maine.

Throughout his career Mr. Stanek has served on numerous insurance carriers’ agency boards as well as being a Director of the Motor Club of America Companies (MCA). Thrifty-Rent-A-Car acquired MCA and Mr. Stanek was appointed to the Thrifty Rent-A-Car/MCA Board of Directors. He also served as President of the Motor Club of America Regional General Agents Association from and was President of the New Jersey Independent Agents Association for Morris and Sussex Counties.  Mr. Stanek was the recipient of the Lou Donegal and William Peason Insurance Person of the Year Award in 1989 and 1990.
