
Mr. Szwec has been in the insurance industry since 1985. He has accumulated a wealth of knowledge during his thirty-one years of experience spanning all forms of insurance coverage for thousands of clients in a wide array of business segments.
He began his insurance career at the Howard C. Fine Agency in Finesville, New Jersey where he learned the skills for successfully creating client relationships. He joined James A. Connors Associates, Inc. as a result of the acquisition of the Fine Agency by Connors in 1996. In 2004 Mr. Szwec, a key employee component of the acquisition, was named manager of the Califon branch office and served as such until 2013.
Hunterdon Happenings named Mr. Szwec as their insurance agent of the year in 2015.
Before beginning his insurance career, Mr. Szwec worked two years a computer programmer for Computer Sharing Systems in Florham Park, New Jersey. Mr. Szwec also worked as a computer programmer for the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
During his earlier career Mr. Szwec worked for the Systems and Planning Bureau of the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles. Mr. Szwec was the Project Director of a federally funded program evaluating the effectiveness of the Probationary Driver Program (PDP) for youth drivers. The PDP remains in effect today. Mr. Szwec also co-produced a publication, Margin of Safety, which provided rules, information and supporting statistics for safe driving.
Mr. Szwec is an honors graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University at Madison, New Jersey where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1977.
He has served on the board of directors for the Delaware Valley Athletic Association (DVAA) for the past thirty-eight years, serving as president five different times for a total of twenty-three years. The DVAA currently provides both recreational and competitive youth baseball and softball play for four hundred children.
Mr. Szwec has served for twenty years as a volunteer director for the Riegel Federal Credit Union in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and is currently Vice-Chairman of the Board. He also serving seven years on the Supervisory Committee, including five years as chairman.
He is an active member of St. Edwards Roman Catholic Church in Milford, New Jersey, the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club.
Mr. Szwec recently headed the membership drive for the Califon Area Merchants and Professional Association (CAMPA), of which James A. Connors Associates, Inc. is a member. He is also a member of a local Business Network International chapter.
The Califon staff is also active in the community. The Califon office has been a collection point for the United States Marines Toys for Tots program for the past ten years, increasing contributions each year to the current one thousand gift level, receiving specific recognition from the Toys for Tots program.
Mr. Szwec plays competitive senior slow-pitch softball on a national level. He maintains his small Hunterdon County farm for woodland reforestation and wildlife habitat and dabbles in hunting, fishing, reading and golf in his ever dwindling spare time.
